July 15th, 2014, will forever be etched into our minds as a day that life changed forever. Jake Moeller was an 18 year old college student who was following Gods call in leading worship. He served at numerous churches around Picayune and was loved by so many students and adults.  Jake was a mans man. He could play any instrument, disassemble any firearm and fix whatever he wanted to. Even with his facination with guns, knives, motorcycles and all things manly, Jake was a big 6’ 3’’ teddy bear. You knew he loved you and he never had to say it. He loved playing with kids and always had a big goofy grin on his face. In the weeks leading up to 7/15/14, Jake was serving as a missionary in Main, and Texas. Tuesday morning he was practicing at his church for a childrens event. On his way home, a drunk driver crossed the yellow line and crashed head on into Jakes truck. Jake was airlifted to the hospital where he passed away just minutes after arrival. His family and friends were devistated! In the midst of a horrible tragedy, God brought glimpses of light and a peace that surpasses all understanding. One of the many blessings that Jake left behind was a small piece of paper attached to his bedroom wall that read, “I have decided to follow Jesus, NO turning back!” This quickly became an anthem for the family, then the friends, then the city and soon people from multiple states were grabbing hold of that phrase. The picture of that little phrase went viral on social media, tshirts with the phrase sold to hundreds, billboards were erected and in the midst of this tragedy, a city rallied around that phrase. It is our prayer as the family of Jake Moeller, that you will also gauge your life and relationship with Christ. We pray that you also will be able to say with all certainty, “I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back!”
